JOHN DAY — The Blue Mountain Eagle has been honored for advertising excellence by the Oregon Newspaper Publishers Association.

The Eagle came away with more than half a dozen awards in the ONPA’s 2023 Best Ad Ideas Contest. The Grant County weekly’s entries were evaluated by volunteer judges who weighed the merits of advertising content at similar-sized non-daily newspapers across the state.

Competing against other Oregon weeklies with circulation between 1,000 and 2,000 copies, the Eagle took top honors for Best Overall Advertising. The category was judged on the basis of ad design, copywriting, artwork, logos and overall advertising design.

The paper also won first place for Best Black and White Ad, as well as second place for Best Single House Ad.

In addition, the Eagle won five third-place awards, for Best Advertising Headline, Best Black and White Ad, Best Section Cover, Most Effective Use of Small Space and Best Multi-Sponsor ROP Ad, a category for themed advertisements that promote multiple businesses in a single ad or page.

“I am honored to have such great clients who trust their advertising needs to me,” said Kim Kell, the Eagle’s advertising consultant since 2008.

“It is my pleasure to serve my customers, and I take pride in providing the best of the best to my customers and the community.”
