PRAIRIE CITY — The Training & Employment Consortium will hold a community resource meeting this month to help Prairie Wood Products employees who have been laid off.

The meeting will take place on Thursday, April 18, at 2 p.m. in the cafeteria at Prairie City High School, 740 Overholt St. Prairie City.

City and county officials say the mill employed about 50 workers before it halted operations March 1. Organizers said they hope to connect the laid-off workers to resources that may help with reemployment as soon as possible.

Support services may be available such as unemployment benefits, SNAP benefits, veteran benefits, health care marketplace information, aptitude assessments, training through schools, on-the-job-training, job search skills and relocation assistance.
