- The U.S. Forest Service is working to revise the management plans for the three national forests in the Blue Mountains — the Wallowa-Whitman, Malheur and Umatilla.
SALEM — The Oregon Department of Forestry is asking the public to comment on proposed state rule changes for post-disturbance timber harvest, also known as salvage logging.
The new rules, required by the law that created Oregon’s Private Forest Accord in 2022, will cover the removal of logs and other forest products in the wake of wildfires, wind or ice storms, insect outbreaks and other disturbances.
ODF will consider public comments in its analysis of the potential economic impact of the proposed rules.
Comments will be accepted until May 1. More information on the proposed rules, including instructions on how to submit comments, can be found on the Proposed Laws and Rules page of the department’s website at https://tinyurl.com/4rybusff.
