To the Editor:

It was an exciting and encouraging experience when community members and business owners in Long Creek decided to regularly meet to discuss ideas to improve our community.

We presented some of these ideas to the city council in recent months and they have already worked with us to improve city lighting and provide youth safety jackets for added safety when children are crossing the Highway 395 intersection. We are also working on ways to slow speeding traffic through town to include discussions with law enforcement.

The owners of the Long Creek Mercantile sponsored both a Christmas and Easter event which volunteers and participants together made these events special. As spring arrives, our city beautification committee will be brainstorming to create a more welcoming appearance in our community.
