The second annual John Day Elks Lodge cornhole tournament and chili cookoff gets underway with chili registration and setup from noon to 2:30 p.m., followed by tasting. Registration for the cornhole tournament begins at 3 p.m., with live music beginning around 5 p.m. Prizes awarded for first, second and third place in cornhole tournament and chili cook-off.
Taco feed fundraiser

Annual May Day benefit for the Monument Volunteer Ambulance Service. Dinner features super tacos, chicken with clemole sauce, Spanish rice and dessert, plus raffles, a silent auction and dessert auction. Tickets are available from the Monument ambulance crew.
