SALEM — The deadline to apply for controlled and premium hunts in Oregon is next week, the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife stated in a news release.
The deadline to apply is 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday, May 15.
Applications are required for most deer and elk hunts in Eastern Oregon and for all pronghon, bighorn sheep and Rocky Mountain goat hunts in the state.
ODFW expects to receive more than half a million controlled hunt applications this year, according to the news release. As of April 29, the agency had received nearly 132,000 applications so far this year, compared to about 130,000 at the same point in 2023.
Hunters can apply through ODFW’s online licensing system at odfw.huntfishoregon.com/login. Applications can also be purchased through hunting license sale agents.
Applications cost $8 per hunt series, and an annual hunting license is also required.
