Baker City Police officer arrests man who twice tried to elude on motorcycle

- Baker City Manager Barry Murphy is proposing to use some of the taxes that guests pay at motels and other lodging businesses be diverted to the city's general fund, which includes the fire and police departments.
A Baker City Police officer arrested a local man on Sunday, May 12, after the man, who was riding a motorcycle, twice tried to elude the officer.

Officer Mason Powell arrested Brendan Andrew Ogan, 35, of Baker City, about 9:30 p.m. in the 200 block of Campbell Street.
Ogan was charged with two counts of attempting to elude a police officer, as well as unlawful possession of methamphetamine.
According to a press release from Baker City Police Chief Ty Duby, Powell initially tried to stop Ogan for a traffic violation in the 500 block of Campbell Street.

Ogan rode away at high speed, and Powell ended the pursuit when Ogan rode on Interstate 84 westbound.
A short time later, Powell saw the motorcycle at the Chevron station, 275 Campbell St., and again tried to stop the rider.
Ogan tried to flee again, but Powell was able to push Ogan from the motorcycle and arrest him. Ogan had almost 20 grams of meth.
Ogan is “well known to the police department” and the county’s narcotics enforcement team, according to the press release.
Ogan was taken to the Baker County Jail.
