Letter: Latest recall effort targets wrong people

To the Editor:

Not another recall!

This upcoming recall attempt is a continued effort by members of the previous administration to cancel current members of our city government who don’t fall in line with the Nick Green crew. That administration left John Day in a shambles. Haven’t the citizens of John Day had enough?

There is a long list of failed projects, including, but not limited to, the abandoned greenhouses. The Pit Stop, which didn’t meet up to its goal of providing much-needed parking and a place to set up food trucks. The abandoned conex containers, which were going to serve as food trucks. The Ridge subdivision, where $750,000 was spent on infrastructure for one house (the rest of that property is practically unbuildable). The purple pipe project, which just got abandoned. And let’s not forget the pool debacle (650,000 tax dollars down the tube).

The names listed on this recall are all people of integrity and along with our new city manager are working hard to clean up the mess left behind by the previous administration. A “no” vote on the recall would be a positive step for John Day.
