JOHN DAY — Bryan and Courtney Montague, owners of Frontier Point S Tire & Auto Service, have been busy with customers since acquiring the business at the beginning of the year.

Formerly known as Doug’s Motor Vehicle Repair and Towing, the business at 130 S. Canyon Blvd. in John Day offers full auto maintenance and repair services in addition to a wide selection of tires. The Montagues also own Frontier Repair & Towing and Frontier Rental at 250 E. Main Street in Mt. Vernon, which they acquired in 2018.

“We still have the Doug’s crew and we still serve your auto repair needs,” Bryan Montague said. “We’ve added the Point S name to the building. (Additionally) we have tire services, tire sales, alignment, etc.”

By having multiple business locations in Grant County, Montague said, “I’m able to better help my customers, so that I can put the vehicle at the location that is best suited for it.”

The John Day Frontier Point S location is near the busiest intersection and the only stoplight in Grant County. In the first half of the year, the new owners replaced the roofing and signage for the new business.

“I just think it’s a great location,” Bryan said. “It was already a good business, and I feel by adding the tire services we’re going to only better serve the community.”

The Montagues employ two auto service advisers and four auto repair technicians.

The John Day business is part of the Point S Group, which, according to the company, is the largest global network of independent retailers in the tire and maintenance sector. Businesses in the network use the same Point S trademark in 51 countries.

“We are still independently owned,” Courtney Montague said. “We’re locally owned and operated, but we have the ability of purchasing power through the co-op.”

Bryan Montague said being part of the Point S network “gives us lots of buying power to price our tires reasonably and have (network) warehouses back us.”

“It’s a network … so we can get these products when we need them and hopefully have them available a lot easier than having to source them from other locations,” he said.
