SENECA — Level 3 (go now) evacuation notices are now in effect for the area south of the Izee-Paulina Highway (County Road 63), southeast to northern Silvies Valley and south to FS 17.

In addition, all areas previously in Level 1 status (be ready) are now in Level 2 (be set), meaning all residents in those areas should be prepared to leave at a moment’s notice.

With portions of the Falls Fire now extending into the southern part of Grant County, county emergency management officials announced the expanded evacuation zones on Thursday afternoon, July 18.

The Level 3 evacuation area includes the Resort at Silvies Valley Ranch and extends to the east side of Highway 395.

The “go now” zone is now just a few miles south of Seneca, which is on the boundary of the Level 2 (be set) zone.

The Red Cross is operating an evacuation shelter at Grant Union High School in John Day.

The Grant County Fairgrounds in John Day can accommodate large animals and dry camping for persons impacted by the evacuations.
