A Crooked River Ranch woman has been charged with attempted murder and assault for allegedly shooting a man in the head Saturday, Aug. 17.

The man survived.

Karen Ann McKay, 60, was being held Monday in the Jefferson County Jail on charges of second-degree attempted murder, first- and second-degree assault and unlawful use of a weapon.

Around 3 p.m., Saturday, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a report of a shooting on SW Ridge Place in Crooked River Ranch near Terrebonne. When deputies arrived, the victim walked out of the home and was taken to St. Charles Bend by ambulance for treatment, according to a news release from Jefferson County Sheriff Jason Pollock.

The man, identified in court documents as Clint Matylinski, is expected to recover from his injuries.

Law enforcement found McKay barricaded inside the home on Ridge Place. She voluntarily surrendered to authorities when additional law enforcement from the Central Oregon Emergency Response Team and a SWAT vehicle arrived on the scene.

No additional information was available Monday, and the relationship between McKay and Matylinski was unclear.

McKay’s arraignment is scheduled for Thursday in Jefferson County Circuit Court.
