DAYVILLE — The town of Dayville is no longer under an evacuation advisory and other evacuation levels near the Rail Ridge Fire have been downgraded or removed, the Grant County Emergency Management Office announced on Thursday, Sept. 19.

Improved weather conditions and less active fire behavior made the lower alert status possible, the agency said in a news release.

All Level 3 “Go Now” evacuation zones have been removed in the vicinity of the Rail Ridge Fire, the release said.

All Level 1 “Be Ready” zones have been removed, with the exception of the zone extending South from Highway 26 between Fields Creek and Moon Creek.

All previous Level 2 “Be Set” zones have been removed.

All previous Level 3 zones have been downgraded to Level 2.

Dayville is no longer in an evacuation zone. The Antone Ranch Road (County Road 40), South Fork Road (County Road 47) and Fields Creek Road (County Road 21) remain closed to all but local and emergency traffic.

The Rail Ridge Fire, caused by lightning strikes on Sept. 2, continues to burn south of Dayville. It covers an estimated 162,000 acres and is 50% contained.
