JOHN DAY — Malheur National Forest officials have further reduced closures on the Falls, Upper Pine and Telephone Fire areas, the agency announced on Friday, Sept. 20.
These closure area reductions will provide access to national forest lands no longer impacted by wildfire or wildfire suppression and repair efforts. Portions of the area around the fires will remain in a closure to protect public health and safety as repair efforts continue, forest officials said.
The new forest orders — Malheur Falls Fire Closure (06-04-00-24-27), Malheur Upper Pine Fire Closure (06-04-02-24-28) and Malheur FSR 2810 Closure (06-04-02-24-29) — rescind and replace the previous Malheur, Falls & Telephone Fire Area Closure (06-04-00-24-24).
