Multiple car prowls reported in Prairie City Jan. 26-27

PRAIRIE CITY — The Grant County Sheriff’s Office is asking the public to help catch a car prowler.
Multiple reports were received of unlocked vehicles being entered in the Prairie City area on the night of Sunday, Jan. 26, and the early morning of Monday, Jan. 27, the agency said in a press release.
Between 10 p.m. and 4:30 a.m., a vehicle on North Washington Street was taken and moved about a block, according to the press release. Nothing was missing from the vehicle.
Two vehicles on North Main Street were entered, the sheriff’s office said, as well as another on North Washington Avenue and two near Southwest Johnson Avenue.
Two vehicles on Southwest Bridge Street were entered, and two rifles were stolen from one of them.
The suspect was observed by a homeowner who was awakened near 3:30 a.m. The suspect is described as a white male wearing a black beanie and a black hoodie, standing around 5 feet, 8 inches tall and weighing about 150 pounds.
The Grant County Sheriff’s Office is asking people with home security cameras in the Prairie City area to check them for possible footage of the suspect.
