Snow, colder temps predicted for NE Oregon

PENDLETON — Winter weather is predicted the night of Tuesday, Feb. 4, through the morning of Wednesday, Feb. 5, the National Weather Service in Pendleton said.

Winter storm warnings are active for Wallowa County and the John Day-Ochoco Highlands until 10 a.m. Wednesday.

There is a high confidence that there will be 5-10 inches of snowfall over Wallowa County and 4-8 inches of snowfall over the John Day-Ochoco Highlands, the NWS said.

Also, a winter weather advisory is in effect for Central Oregon, the John Day Basin and the Northern and Southern Blue Mountains and foothills. The NWS predicted a high confidence in 4-8 inches of snowfall over higher elevations and further east and 3-6 inches over the foothills and further west.

Temperatures are expected to cool throughout the week. Tuesday and Wednesday temperatures will get colder, stabilizing through Thursday and Friday, with low overnight temperatures residing mainly from the mid-20s to the teens.

On Saturday and Sunday, a second drop in temperatures will occur, driving overnight lows into the teens and single digits.
