JOHN DAY — A single-vehicle crash just west of John Day sent two people to the hospital, although neither was believed to be badly hurt.
A silver 2019 Ford Escape was traveling east on Highway 26 around 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 15, when the vehicle left the roadway near milepost 160, drove through a barbed-wire fence and crashed into a parked gooseneck horse trailer, according to the Oregon State Police.
The lone passenger in the SUV, a 28-year-old Canyon City man, was able to extricate himself from the damaged SUV, but the driver, a 23-year-old woman from Enterprise, had to be freed from the wreckage by an ambulance crew using cutting tools and other equipment, the OSP accident report stated.
Both were taken to Blue Mountain Hospital with what were believed to be minor, non-life-threatening injuries, according to the report.
The driver of the Escape, Bryanna Danielle Homan, was later issued a citation for failure to drive within a lane of travel, the report said.
The Ford was towed from the scene, and the Grant County Sheriff’s Office provided traffic control during the incident.
