Grant County preps for Easter celebrations

JOHN DAY – Easter is fast approaching and Grant County has no-less than five events marking the occasion.
The Easter celebrations will all take place Friday and Saturday, April 18-19, in most communities throughout the county. While Easter egg hunts are the main attraction, some Easter celebrations feature a 5k run/walk, barbecue and prizes.
Easter celebrations will April 18 begin in Prairie City with the Blue Mountain Care Center Easter Egg Hunt. The hunt starts at 2 p.m. at Blue Mountain Care Center, 112 E 5 St.
The Blue Mountain Care Center Easter Egg Hunt includes prizes and an appearance by the Easter Bunny.
Celebrations continue on April 19 with the 10th Annual Bunny Hop run/walk that begins and ends at the Dayville Community Center. The entry fee for the race is $20 per person.
Registration starts at 8 a.m. with the race starting at 9 a.m. An Easter egg hunt at the Dayville Community Park takes place after the race.
Monument holds its Easter egg hunt sponsored by the Bible Fellowship of Monument at 10 a.m. on April 19 at Monument City Park.
A pair of Easter egg hunts in John Day on April 19 will begin with the John Day Elks Easter Egg Scramble at 11 a.m. at the Seventh Street Sports Complex in John Day. The egg hunters will be separated into age groups of 1-3, 4-6, 7-9 and 10-12.
Easter celebrations in Grant County concludes with the John Day Volunteer Fire Department’s Easter Egg Hunt at Grant Union High School starting at noon. Attendees will be treated to free grilled burgers or hot dogs.
