Long Creek/Ukiah goalie Ben Combs puts the ball into play in the Oct. 18 game against Nyssa.

Mathéo Buchart scored 5 goals in two games last week for Long Creek/Ukiah’s soccer team.

With just 2 seconds left on the clock Oct. 18, Buchart scored the only goal in his team’s 4-1 loss to Nyssa in Long Creek.

He also had 4 goals in Saturday’s road win over Umatilla with teammate Ben Combs contributing 2 goals and Marcel Kozhogvlov adding 1 goal for the 7-1 win.

Long Creek/Ukiah head coach Amos Studtmann said his team started off with poor communication and a lack of rotation on defense in the first half against Nyssa but came out with a stronger second half.

“I can see improvements in many of my players from the beginning of the season,” Studtmann said. “Effort and improvement is what we’re looking for — that’s what we play for.”

In Saturday’s game in Umatilla, Studtmann said his team ran hard and put in some work for the win.

“Umatilla is a JV team, but our kids still feel good about getting a win,” he said, adding Thomas Kreamier and Henry Grannis performed well.
