JOHN DAY – Fresh veggies continue to be enjoyed by those taking them home and those who so graciously share their bounty. Jimmy Maple, Stella and Bob McCauley and the Roes are the master gardeners. Corn, tomatoes and peppers were added last week. Don Porter picks up day old bread and goodies from Chester’s. There is never anything left, also frozen fish was distributed. Bob and Kay, Don and all gardeners – thank you!

Special guests of Mildred Allen were Cecil and Marsha Carnie from Indianapolis. They are here to attend the Jimmy Allen Memorial Pig Feed. This is an annual event of veterans, marines of the Vietnam War. Jimmy talked so much to his buddies about the beautiful John Day valley that Dave Traylor moved here. Usually there are four or five attending from different areas of the U.S. While they are here, Dave always has them do some community service. Will try to find more about these deeds later. We remember our veterans with gratitude. Thank them often.
Ester Hanson will receive a free meal at the Center and Thelma Kite will shop with her certificate from Chester’s Thriftway.
Don Caldwell led the flag salute and Pastor Benson asked the blessing.
