Prairie City Seniors: 10.15.08

PRAIRIE CITY – This morning Ottis Garrett and Buzz Harris prepared the six tables for the 48 who checked in with Eula Thompson later to eat the meal of lasagna, salad, olives, Italian bread and pudding-chocolate, vanilla or coconut. Three meals were delivered.

Since Marvin Casebeer was camping out to hunt a deer, Amos Cardwell was asked to do the announcing.
Flag salute was led by Buzz Harris. The blessing was given by Dennis Donivan.
Prairie Drug and Hardware certificate went to Rose Coombs. Pam Howard won the Chuck’s Little Diner certificate. Our servers were Helen Emmel, Carolyn Bird and myself.

Prairie Baptist Church’s pastor, David Hoeffner, brought some potatoes and onions that Kevin Purnell had brought from the Adrian area for the church’s potluck on Sunday.
Today, Al and Diane Fisk from the northwest Washington area joined us. Georgeanne Williams also joined us.
From the nursing home, Kathleen DuBuc and Lorna Askew brought Mildred Allen, Ruth Johns, Daphne Andrews, Joyce Morton, LaVerne Matteson and Hazel Moorman.
Nearly everyone came in the kitchen to look at the new freezer donated by Helen Ricco to the seniors and the grange. Thanks! Please do not wash the outside with soap or detergent, or it will change color.
Someone had left a light on in the basement. Were you looking for mice? Who turned on the overhead fan in the kitchen? It was cold in there this morning!
Here is hoping everyone is in better spirits next week.
