Barry L. O’Connor died on Jan. 17, 2007 at his home in Goble. He was 57.
A memorial service was held on Jan. 22, 2007, at the Goble Tavern in Goble.
Mr. O’Connor was born on Dec. 10, 1949 in Florida to Joseph and Dorothy (Ponder) O’Connor. His father was in the military so he was educated in different parts of the country. He moved to Oregon when he was a child and lived there ever since.

Mr. O’Connor worked as a welder for Houser Steel Company in Portland. He retired in 1998.
He was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. He enjoyed playing music. He was a guitarist, singer, songwriter and enjoyed performing at the Gold Tavern with his son. He also enjoyed sturgeon fishing, spending time with friends and his dog “Baby.”
He is survived by his sons, Joseph O’Connor of Scappoose; Barry L. O’Connor, Jr. “BJ”; stepfather, Douglas Dickerson of Charleston, Ark.; siblings, Jerry Dickerson of Florida; Grant Dickerson and Jack O’Connor, both of Portland; Michael O’Connor of Port Orford; Danny O’Connor and Debbie Robbins, both of John Day; nieces, Michelle Custer of John Day; and Dawn Marie Robbins of Lake Oswego.
He was preceded in death by brother Robert O’Connor.
Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Helens High School Band.
Columbia Funeral Home and Cremation Center Columbia Memorial Gardens was in charge of arrangements.
