Barbara Salisbury, of Canyon City, died on Dec. 19, 2006, at her residence. She was 72.
A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. Jan. 13, 2007, at Strawberry Mountain Christian Fellowship in John Day, with Pastor Ira Hodge officiating. A gathering for family and friends will be held after the service at the home of Karla and Bill Colson.
Mrs. Salisbury was born on March 31, 1934 in Troutdale to Frank and Mary (Salathe) Snell. She was raised in Orient, Ore. area. She attended Orient Grade School and graduated from Gresham High School in 1952. She attended business school in Portland for one year.
In 1955, she married Bud Salisbury. They raised their two daughters in the Gresham and Sandy area until 1975, when they moved to Milton-Freewater. They lived there until 1999 and then moved to Canyon City to be near their daughter and grandsons.
Mrs. Salisbury worked as a bookkeeper at Gresham Business Machines, Buttercup Bakery, and Burbee Company in Walla Walla,Wash., where she retired in 1996.
She was a member of the Strawberry Mountain Christian Fellowship in John Day.
She loved camping, fishing, yard work, growing indoor plants, making cookies and crafts, playing Aggravation and spending time with family and friends.
She is survived by her husband, Bud Salisbury, of Canyon City; daughters, Karla Colson, of Canyon City; Brenda Bailey of Spokane, Wash.; sister, Helen Conner of Woodburn; and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Mary Snell; brothers, Lloyd, Frances and Don Snell; and sisters, Velma Thomas and Virginia Walsh.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family of Karla Salisbury Colson, where contributions will be distributed to Mrs. Salisbury’s choice of charities.
