Obituaries: Glenn W. Kimberling

Glenn W. Kimberling, 98, died May 7, 2008, at his home in Vancouver, Wash.

He was born on Sept. 9, 1909 in Prairie City. A graduate of Prairie City High School and of the University of Oregon, he was a teacher and superintendent of schools in Waldport for 12 years.

He and his wife, Evelyn, were radio operators during the outbreak of World War II for the Civil Aeronautics Administration (CAA) which later became the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Their occupation took them to Alaska, Hawaii, the South Pacific, Guam and Panama.

Mr. Kimberling retired from the FAA after 27 years of service and spent his remaining years in Vancouver, where he enjoyed bowling, stamp and coin collecting, gardening and watching basketball.

Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Evelyn; two sons, David and Bryce; daughter, Patti; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

An informal memorial will be held at the family home in Vancouver May 21.
