JOHN DAY — All districts of the Malheur National Forest (Blue Mountain, Prairie City and Emigrant Creek) will be rescinding all public use restrictions and moving to an industrial fire precaution level of 1 on Wednesday, Aug. 30.
The fire danger rating level will remain at moderate for all districts.
Under industrial fire precaution level 1, known as closed season, fire precaution requirements are in effect. A fire watch/security is required at this and all higher levels unless otherwise waived.
Seasonal fire restrictions will remain in place, with no saw shutdown at 1 p.m. and campfires allowed in dispersed sites outside of designated campgrounds. Campfires will need to be enclosed in a fire ring and should never be left unattended. A shovel and gallon of water is required on site.
