Local poet gains honor

LONG CREEK – Local resident Nancy Morgan’s interest in poetry is drawing attention in literary circles.

Morgan’s poem, “Listen to Your Heart,” and a profile of the author are selected for induction into the International Library of Poetry this summer. They will be featured in the “Volume of Immortal Verses.”

Morgan came by the honor after reading her favorite magazine, Country Weekly, which had a notice about a poetry contest. An avid songwriter with a passion for poetry, she decided to enter one of her poems.

She was thrilled to receive a letter recently noting the selection of her work.

Morgan has been writing poetry for about eight years, has also written music for Nashville performers, including 15 songs done as demos.
