CANYON CITY – In an Oct. 12 letter to the county district attorney, defense attorney John Lamborn waived arraignment on an amended 10-count indictment against his client, Bradley Joseph Clemens.
Clemens, 24, allegedly assaulted his girlfriend at his Seneca residence on the evening of Sept. 23.
On Sept. 25, he was arrested by officers from the John Day Police Department, Oregon State Police and the Grant County Sheriff’s Department after a search warrant was served at his C Avenue residence.
Clemens and the victim had a girlfriend-boyfriend relationship, Sheriff Glenn Palmer said.
Clemens was arrested without incident on a charge of first-degree assault and lodged in the Grant County Jail on a $200,000 bond.
The amended indictment approved by a Grant County grand jury charged him with three counts of first-degree assault, four counts of second-degree assault, two counts of coercion and one count of menacing.
Clemens’ bond was reduced to $50,000, and he was not in custody Oct. 17.
No date has been scheduled for the preliminary hearing.
