Eagle photo by Jill Mallory
Polly Post, the Whiskey Gulch Gang treasurer, came from Burns to have fun.

The Whiskey Gulch Gang started the party in 1922, the 60th anniversary of the discovery of gold on June 8, 1862, on Canyon Creek, and the celebration has gone on every year since.

The parade on June 11 was a highlight, and there were lots of ribbons awarded to deserving entries, but final results were still being tabulated as the Eagle went to press.

We did know that the sweepstakes winner was Dennis and Julie Reynolds and their son Jake, who rode in a 100-year-old surrey with a fringe on top pulled by a horse named Rex; and the owner of the ugly truck, which was Dawn Hamsher.
