Grant County man found dead in camper on Little Canyon Mountain

CANYON CITY — A man has been found dead in the camper he was living in on private land outside of Canyon City.

Wayne Grider, 60, was found dead on the floor of his pickup-type camper on the afternoon of Monday, Dec. 16th, Grant County Sheriff Todd McKinley said in a press release.

The sheriff said Grider’s family has been notified and there was no sign of foul play.

The cause of death is under investigation by the Grant County deputy medicolegal investigator.

McKinley said Grider, a longtime Grant County resident, was found in his camper on Little Canyon Mountain by the property owner, who went to check on him.

The landowner called the 911 dispatch center to report the death, McKinley said. Grant County deputies responded to the report and were led to the camper.
