Lady Pros get slim win over Burns/Crane

Grant Union/Prairie City pitcher Drew Williams allowed just three hits and struck out 14 Lady Hilander batters as the Grant Union/Prairie City softball team got a slim 1-0 road win over Burns/Crane on Thursday, May 16, in the final game of the regular season.

The Lady Prospectors’ lone run came in the top of the fourth inning as a result of some opportunistic base running by catcher Addy Northway, who stole home following a passed ball for a Lady Pro 1-0 lead that would hold through the remainder of the game.

The win leaves the Lady Pros at 21-4 on the season with the No. 1 ranking in the state among class 1A/2A softball teams.

The Lady Pros enter the 2A/1A 2024 OSAA State Championships, which were scheduled to get underway on Monday, May 20, as the tournament’s No. 1 seed and defending champion.

The Lady Pros will be in action next at home on Wednesday, May 22, in a second-round matchup against the winner of 16th-ranked Myrtle Point and 17th-ranked Illinois Valley, who were scheduled to face off on Monday, May 20.
