Paul Marion Humphreys of Spray died Jan. 5 in an auto accident outside of Spray.
A funeral service and celebration of life will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 14, at the Spray high school gymnasium. A graveside service will follow at the Haystack Cemetery with a dinner immediately following at The Rock.
He was born on Dec. 17, 1968, in Manteca, Calif., to Candace and George Shen. At the age of 14, Paul moved to Spray with his mother and only brother, Chris. His mother was remarried to Dave Humphreys, who adopted both Paul and his brother in 1984.
In 1987 he graduated from Spray High School and married shortly thereafter. He then attended the Bend Community College before moving back to Spray, where he began working for the Oregon Department of Forestry. Paul then moved to Monument while working as a State Forester for the next four to five years. He then moved back to Spray after being hired as a deputy sheriff for Wheeler County.
Paul married Angelica Rainbolt on July 19, 2003, in Spray. His son Trevor came to live with the couple while his youngest son, Tyrel remained in Wyoming with his mother, visiting his dad during the summer.
Paul loved his job as Wheeler County Deputy, but also made time to do prevention work with the kids as well as being involved with his children’s lives.
Survivors include his wife, Angelica of Spray; his son Trevor of Spray and son Tyrel of Byron, Wyo.; parents, Candace and Dave Humphreys of Spray and George Shen of Manteca, Calif.; brother and sister-in-law Chris and Becca Humphreys of Oregon City; and grandparents Joyce and Odell Adams of Spray and Virginia Humphreys and Paul Shen.
Remembrances may be made to any Bank of Eastern Oregon.
Sweeney Mortuary in Heppner will be in charge of arrangements.
