The Prairie City High School cheerleaders will screen a Christmas movie to kick off Christmas on the Prairie. Admission is $5, and food and drink will be available for purchase.

Christmas on the Prairie

Prairie City’s annual holiday celebration returns with the theme of “Woodland Christmas.” The American Legion Holiday Bazaar runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the cafeteria at Prairie City School. At 10:30 a.m., there will be a snowball drop on Main Street near Depot Park, and the DeWitt Museum and Sumpter Valley Railroad will host a free day. Children’s activities begin at noon at the Prairie City Community Center with a Christmas program, followed by Santa’s arrival at 1 p.m. At 4:30 p.m., Santa will officially kick off the holiday season by lighting the city center tree. A Fine Wine and Holiday Signs painting party starts at 5 p.m. at the community center; $65 covers all materials and something to sip on. A woodland ornament hunt will take place throughout the day, along with judging of the school art contest. Information: 208-791-4817.
