Letter: Autumn brings a joyful harvest

To the Editor:
We had spring rains, warm days and cool nights, and the result for Grant County was a great harvest season! One gal showed me a picture of her garden’s bounty, and I see trees full of fruit and even got some for myself as neighbors share their pears and raspberries and grapes with me. The fields yielded thick crops of hay, and flowers were (and mine still are) blooming and beautiful. I just have pots at my place but enjoyed them as I need something to tend to.
Now, as October comes, we scurry to can or freeze or get our meat for the winter — all is God’s bounty, and I give thanks as He is my wonderful provider.
Try to keep to local foods as much as you can. One item I saw posted was made with “cricket flour”! Read your labels! I am cooking as fresh as possible — lots of soups, breads and dishes my mom made. I share as I can and visit those who need a friendly hug.
I hear it’s supposed to be a warm winter. Suits me fine! Enjoy the fall.
