IZEE — The seventh wolf depredation incident in Grant County this year was confirmed to have taken place at Warm Springs Creek, near the Crook County line, by state wildlife managers on Thursday, Nov. 16.
An injured 9-month-old calf was determined to have been attacked by a collared disperser wolf called OR131, according to information from the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife. The calf later had to be euthanized.
OR131, from the Lookout Mountain Pack in eastern Baker County, became resident over the summer in the northern portion of the Silvies Unit, which includes portions of Crook, Grant and Harney counties, according to ODFW.
The Nov. 16 incident comes on the heels of confirmed depredations on Nov. 1 and Oct. 24, as well as a Sept. 22 confirmed depredation incident near Dale. Earlier confirmed depredations were investigated in Grant County on June 15, May 29 and May 28.
