Hope everyone wore green on St. Patrick’s Day to avoid those pinches.

On March 11, Amos Cardwell, Clayton Curtis, Marvin Casebeer and Buzz Harris set up the dining hall. Buzz delivered 14 home meals or takeouts, then led the flag salute. Amos gave a reading and asked the blessing.

Cleo Dunten, dressed in her St. Patrick’s Day outfit, manned the reception desk where 31 diners signed in.

Helen Emmel, Helen Cardwell, Barbara Raines and Carolyn Bird served noodles and hamburger, green beans, lettuce salad, rolls and chocolate cake topped with cherries.

Blue Mountain Nursing Home residents Woody Wood, Slim Williams, Betty Paschen, Ressie Read and Clifford Dukes were accompanied by Lorna Ashmead and Shawna Morin.

Gift certificate winners were Charlie Oliver, Branding Iron Cafe; Bonnie Pickle, Lunch Box Deli; Amos Cardwell, Mort’s Barber Shop; and Mel Rookstool, Prairie Drug and Hardware.

Many hands helped clear the tables and clean the hall after lunch. Some were Ottis Garrett, Cleo Dunten and Marjorie Harris.
