Grant County residents share their enthusiasm for shooting sports, and not just during hunting season.

Active gun-shooting organizations teach and practice the arts of trap shooting, black powder, target shooting, skeet shooting and other forms.

The Grant County Shooting Sports Club offers a full calendar of activities and competitions, with events in almost every month of the year at the Seneca Range, off Highway 395 near Seneca. The offerings include skeet and trap shooting for adults and youth, and there is a bench rest for rifle and pistol shooting. The club also offers an annual Fourth of July Sporting Clay Shoot in Prairie City as part of that community’s big celebration.

Local shooting enthusiasts are working to establish another gun range a few miles west of Prairie City, off Highway 26. The new range, on county land, will cater to rifle sports, big and small bore, black powder, and shotgun sports.

In addition to gun sports, there are ample opportunities for archery practice and competitions in the county.
