Ada Leona McIntyre, 95, of Caldwell, Idaho, died Jan. 23 at Country Spice Residential Care Facility in John Day. A graveside service was held Jan. 30, at Canyon Hill Cemetery in Caldwell.
Mrs. McIntyre was born Oct. 21, 1913 to Ernest D. & Helga E. (Dyre) Gilbert in the Eidemiller home in the Fargo community near Wilder, Idaho. She graduated in 1930 from Wilder High School.
On Oct. 30, 1930 she married Donald W. McIntyre at her parents’ home in the Fargo community.
She enjoyed cooking, sewing, flowers – especially roses and hollyhocks – and her cats. She played piano, loved to watch birds, and collected bird and chicken memorabilia.
She spent all of her married life living on the fruit farm caring for her family and helping care for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her family was her top priority. She was also a member of the First Baptist Church in Caldwell.
Survivors include her daughter, Donna Hancock of John Day; son, Ron McIntyre of Caldwell; sister, Gladys Smith of Caldwell; brother-in-law, Richard McIntyre of Union; granddaughter, Peggy Molnar of Maricopa, Ariz.; grandsons, Jim Hancock of John Day and Rob McIntyre of Athena; granddaughters, Karri Fisk of Caldwell and Kami Shane of Twin Falls, Idaho; 16 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband Don; her son, Jack McIntyre; a son-in-law, Pete Hancock; four sisters; and one brother.
