My name is Shyanne Winters and I am the 2009 Grant County Fair and Rodeo Queen. I am 15 years old and have lived in Grant County most of my life. I moved to Dayville when I was about 5, so I have had all of my schooling at Dayville Schools.

I have very strong family roots in Grant County and in rodeo. My mother’s family has lived here for many, many years. My grandpa, Hilmer, has been in rodeo all of his life and was a very successful bronc rider. My mother was on the rodeo court for the Elgin Stampede. She was also on the Blue Sage Tack Team, where they rode with nothing but the clothes on their backs. My dad also has been involved in rodeo for most of his life. He was a world champion in Wild Horse Racing and has multiple buckles. His collection makes mine look pitiful!
I love my horses. They are what keep me sane! The horse that I am using for court is a 14-year-old mare named Cash. She is beautiful red-dun quarter horse! My other horse is a colt and his name is whatever we decide to call him that day. His registered name is Docs Unique Cash. He is a 4-year-old horse and spoiled rotten because he is my baby!
I have dabbled in rodeo ever since I was about 8 or 9. I love to compete with my horse. It makes me feel closer to them in a way, and I will always take a chance to get closer to something I love. I have won about 15 or 16 buckles.

I live with my mom, Trena, who is a beautiful woman, and visit my dad as often as I can. I now have a stepsister, stepbrother, and stepmom. My dad is someone I definitely look up to. My mom and dad are my heroes. They support me every step of the way, no matter what I am doing, and I do a lot of stuff!
I am the student body secretary at Dayville High School, I participate in three sports and 4-H. I play volleyball, basketball, and I do track. Basketball is definitely my favorite by far. I also love football, even though I do not compete in it during the school year. Football is a big part of my family, because I have very few female family members! Every Thanksgiving and Easter we either watch it, or play it! There’s never NO football at our family gatherings, and that’s definitely the way I like it!
I have one full brother, Colten. He is quite annoying, but of course I love him! What little brother isn’t annoying, right? He is 14-year-old and in the seventh grade. He is a Green Bay Packer fan all the way! He, too, lives with my mother and me. When I go to visit my dad, we have a full house, because of our two stepsiblings and our stepmother. Jordin, my stepsister, is also my best friend. We have known each other for a very long time and are extremely close. She is an eighth-grader and enjoys a lot of the same things I do. My stepbrother’s name is Zach, and he is a junior. He is a lot of fun to be around, too. Then there is Debbie! She is my stepmother, and she is a kick in the pants!
I also would like to mention my great-grandma, Marge. She has always been there for me, throughout my life, and I thank her greatly for it. My uncle Denny has also always been there, attending most of my ball games and always being interested in what I have to say. My grandma Marina for really being there for all of my games! She is the bus driver at our school and I am glad, because she is always there to look out for me.
I have a very diverse family, and I love them. I don’t think I could have even run for court if it hadn’t been for their support and encouragement! Thank you guys so much. I also would like to thank the people of Grant County! It’s going to be a fun year!
