Lena “Marie” Hopper Britt, 94, of Stanfield died Thursday, January 29, 2015 at her home. A graveside memorial service will be held Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at 10:30 am at the Heppner Masonic Cemetery in Heppner, Oregon.

She was born May 19, 1920 at Colorado Springs, Colorado, the daughter of John and Edna Hopper. The family lived at Ramah, Colorado until Marie was seven years old when they took up residence in Winona, Kansas. In 1933 when Marie was thirteen, they moved to Spray, Oregon.

On June 30, 1938 Marie married Ray R. Britt. The couple had four daughters, Arlene, Raelene, Peggy, and Donna.

In 1945 Ray and Marie bought a ranch in Kahler Basin, near Spray, where they raised their family and farmed until 1983 when they moved into Spray.

Marie moved to Stanfield, Oregon in 2006 where she resided with her daughter Donna and son-in-law Tom Troxell until her death.

She is survived by her daughters; Arlene Gienger and her husband Bill of Spray, Oregon, Raelene Gentry and her husband Burke “Cap” of Ukiah, Oregon, Peggy Baker and her husband Denny of Roseburg, Oregon, and Donna Troxell and her husband Tom of Stanfield, Oregon, her grandchildren; Jim Foyen, Shirl Potter, Verlinda Wanzer, Dawna Gentry, Russel Coffman, Kevin Troxell, and

Krystal Swindlehurst. She was also blessed with many great- grandchildren which she adored and loved.

Preceding her in death were her parents in 1976, her husband

Ray of 55 years in 1993, brother Robert Hopper in 1982, and a granddaughter, Zorieta Tankersly, in 2013.

Marie became a Christian at 8 years of age, and served her Heavenly Father until her death. She always had a smile for everyone.
