CANYON CITY — U.S. Forest Service fire crews are fighting a fire near Canyon Mountain.
The fire is estimated to be burning five to 10 acres in wilderness near private land and is considered a No. 1 priority due to its proximity to the Barry Creek Ranch homes.
The fire is in an area containing heavy fuels and slash.
Resources being used include a heavy air tanker, single engine air tanker, rappelers and smoke jumpers. Additional resources are on order, according to Shilo Burton, public affairs specialist for the forest service.
