JOHN DAY Logging operationshave started on the Silvies Timber

Sale, and log hauling will begin later the week of Aug. 1-7,

announced Malheur National Forest officials.

Logging activity will take place on Forest Road 3100095, which is

off Forest Road 31 on the west side, near Forest Road 3110. The

haul route will be south on Forest Road 31, to U.S. Hwy. 395.

Visitors to the area of the Forest are urged to use caution while

driving or recreating. There will be a large volume of log truck

traffic and heavy equipment activity.  Drivers should drive with

their headlights on, slow down when approaching curves and be aware

of workers in the area.
