- Happy Hens Egg Farm owner talks with a customer during last year's Farmers Market.
JOHN DAY If its locally grown and made, its likely to be at the John Day Farmers Market.
The Market, now in its second year, will run from 9 a.m. to noon every Saturday, June 18 through Oct. 15, on Southwest Brent Street in John Day.
All vendors must be local, defined as Grant County and any bordering county. All crafts and produce must be locally made and grown.
This year the market will accept SNAP benefits for eligible food and produce, WIC fruit and vegetable vouchers, and Farm Direct nutrition checks. Applications and rules are also available at Naturally Yours in John Day.
Some of the features organizers are hoping to add this year are baked goods and beverages; music or other entertainment; services such as knife sharpening, firewood and leather repair; promotional classes for cooking, crafts and gardening; and childrens activities such as balloon tying, face painting and coloring.
Anyone interested in providing those products or services, or those wanting any information on the markets, can call organizers Jim and Sandy Bay at 541-932-2725
