Youth rope, ride and tie at final Playdays rodeo

JOHN DAY – Pink was the color of the day at the Aug. 24 Cinnabar Mountain Playdays rodeo.

It was the final rodeo of the season and the youth sported the color in honor of those who’ve battled or are fighting breast cancer.

Each of the 29 contestants received a Tough Enough to Wear Pink water bottle from Wanda Winegar, owner of Bar W-B clothing store in Prairie City who helped sponsor the gifts.

Contestants their families and sponsors are invited to the annual awards banquet to be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 19, at the Mt. Vernon Community Hall.

A main dish, dessert and beverages will be provided, and those attending are asked to bring a side dish.

Tickets for a drawing of a Tough Enough to Wear Pink basket will be on sale through Oct. 19 at Wild West Hair Company, with the drawing to be held at the awards banquet.
