Medford, Ore. — A pair of local entrepreneurs are taking cutting edge technology and starting a new business.
Siskiyou County based company, Aerotech Videography and Media Company, uses drones to take birds eye view pictures and videos of weddings, sporting events, and parties.
President Joe Morgan said he hopes the company will change people’s perspectives on what he says some say is an “eye in the sky” watching people’s every move.
“They don’t have to be used for negative action,” Morgan said.
Morgan has shot weddings for three years and said he thought of the idea when people started asking for aerial shots.
He and his business partner Andrew Duff got their business license on March 20th. Just two weeks after a federal judge ruled the Federal Aviation Administration couldn’t fine a man for flying a drone commercially.
“We met with the sheriff of Siskiyou County, the mayor, met with numerous federal agencies to make sure we were in the right trying to do this,” CEO Duff said.
Morgan said they carry a multi-million dollar insurance coverage and that the technology runs on GPS.
“It’s really smart,” Morgan said. “It knows where it’s at, it knows where it takes off and where it’s supposed to land.”
A smart piece of technology that’s growing in popularity. Last year Dominos Pizza released a video of a drone pizza delivery in the UK. But Morgan said that’s not in their future.
“The only thing I want to deliver to you is beautiful images on TV for you to remember forever and ever,” he said.
