Grant County website gets new look

Grant Countys website has a new look.

Not just a superficial makeover, the upgraded website also has new features and links aimed to help both local residents and visitors to Grant County learn more about the area, research documents, and check out a variety of available resources, services and county departments.

Information is divided into four main sections Departments, Community Services, Emergency Services and Publications with an array of sub-categories under each. All have brief summaries and contact information, and in some cases, links to that program or departments website.

Grant County Economic Development Coordinator Sally Bartlett said her office supports several sites that have been developed through special projects: Firewise/Community Wildfire Protection Plan, Local Food Guide, Grant County Airport Industrial Park, Transit/People Mover, Grant County Fairgrounds and the Grant County Surveyors Office. Direct links for those are at the top of the Grant County page.

Some sites, such as the one for Grant County Regional Airport, are new.

The websites new features and services include being able to make electronic payments for traffic tickets and settlements with Justice Court, and access to over 20,000 pages of tax lot information and Grant County land surveys on the Surveyors site.

Bartlett said the county didnt have a website when she began working for it six years ago. One of her first goals was to develop and implement one. At that time, the Grant County Chamber of Commerce was working on its own new website. Both chose the economical route of building two sites into one, with a toggle key linking the pair. Chamber of Commerce executive director Sharon Mogg said a new Chamber website is also in the works, but no details are available yet.

From the start, Bartlett said, funds have been budgeted each year into the Economic Development budget to pay for the county website. She said Title III programs helped fund the Firewise and Surveyor sites.

Brian Gardner, owner of LanGard Micro Developers, is the web designer and webmaster for both the County and Chamber sites.

Bartlett said, From the beginning, the two goals for the website have been, one, to serve the public, and two, to promote Grant County as a viable place to work, live, locate a business, raise a family and visit.
