PRAIRIE CITY – It’s the day after Veterans Day and the potluck dinner where lots of food was enjoyed by everyone. Only problem was, someone decided to re-arrange the room before Tuesday without consulting the Auxiliary gals and the seniors. So some small tables and a couple of benches had to be moved to be used elsewhere or out of the way.
This morning Ottis Garrett and Buzz Harris prepared the tables for the 48 who signed in with Eula Thompson to eat the meal of vegetable and beef soup, rolls, broccoli-raisin salad and a dessert of a baked half squash full of apple slices seasoned. Some had a piece of Louise’s Veterans Day cake left from the potluck Tuesday evening. Three meals were delivered.
Since Marvin is camping out and looking for elk, Buzz asked Amos Cardwell to do the announcing. Amos led the flag salute. After the announcements, Billy Drinkwater gave the blessing.
Pam Howard won the Prairie Drug and Hardware certificate.
For our Thanksgiving dinner Nov. 19, we were asked to bring a salad or a relish plate if your last name begins with A through L, and a pie for those whose name is M through Z. There may be those who may want to switch.
Our servers were Helen Emmel, Jean Kline and Marjorie Harris.
Patty Jones and Lorna Askew brought Ruth and Carl Johns, Wally Wedde, Joyce Morton, Hazel Moorman and Daphne Andrews from the nursing home to join us.
I am going to try naming some who came for the first time or who haven’t been here in a while: Leroy and Sharon Duncan moved to Prairie City in the last 6-8 months, Bruce and Wanda Kaufman, Carol Johns, Balbina Escudero, Frances Starkey and Maryanne Osborne.
Guess what? No one locally is complaining of the rain we have had lately. There’s been snow up higher and coming in on vehicles.
