PRAIRIE CITY Panther fans cheered on the Prairie City football team last Friday at the first home game of the season, despite a tough loss.
The Panthers fell 14-48 to the Pine Eagle Spartans in nonleague play.
The game was a turnaround from the previous weeks game with Sherman, said coach Rod Willet. Although the team lost to the Huskies, the Panthers stayed positive throughout that game, he said.
We just couldnt get things going, Willet said of Fridays game.
Seasonal illness may have played a role.
A lot of them said they werent feeling well, Willet said.
After a 6-6 tie in the first quarter, the Spartans took control in the second, scoring 34 points. They added another 8 in the third.
The Panthers put 8 points on the board in the fourth quarter.
Willet said the team will work on morale during the week leading up to their first league game with Adrian on the road at 6 p.m. this Friday in Adrian.
