Roddy Karl Baumann

VANCOUVER, Wash. Roddy Karl Baumann, 62, a former John Day resident, died April 24, 2012, at his Vancouver, Wash., home. A celebration of life will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 5, at Felida Baptist Church in Vancouver.

Mr. Baumann spent many years working fires with the U.S. Forest Service, and up to his death, was passing on his knowledge and skills by leading Forest Service trainings.

Aside from God, his wife, grandchildren and fishing ranked high on his list of loves.

Survivors include his wife, Landie of Vancouver; daughter, Mikendra McCoy of California; son, Abraham of Vancouver; three grandchildren; his mother; and two brothers.

In lieu of flowers, an educational fund for the Baumann grandchildren has been established through Felida Baptist Church, 3027 N.W. 119th St., Vancouver, WA 98685.
