Easter butterfly

Pastor Marcie Collins of John Day United Methodist Church sent this butterfly kite with helium balloons to the skies on Easter Sunday 2012, as an acclamation of the risen Christ. Collins explained that the butterfly is a symbol of the Resurrection: “As the caterpillar enters the cocoon, it reminds us of Jesus’ burial. The breaking open of the cocoon, and emergence of the transformed butterfly reminds us of Christ breaking from the prison of the tomb, and the promise of eternal life to which He leads us.”
