JOHN DAY Advantage Dental has already had an office in John Day for over a year.

Now it has one thats not on wheels.

The clinic moved to its new location at the west end of John Day, 750 W. Main St., in the former Malheur Timber Operators office, earlier this month.

Dr. Travis Schuller heads up the dental team, assisted by Sue Philo, hygenist; Kaylee Lemcke, assistant; Lily Harig, sterilization tech and assistant; and Shareena Breck, front receptionist, and Deanna Lambert, area manager.

The general practice dental services were previously offered out of a mobile dental service stationed at the Grant County Fairgrounds. The move and renovations have been in the works for about three years.

At Advantage Dental, all patients are welcome, with or without insurance.

Mike Shirtcliff, president and CEO of Advantage Dental, said they are hoping to fill the gap for those with Medicaid and no insurance.

Shirtcliff added that as much as possible, local products and contractors were used in the renovations.

Advantage Dental is headquartered in Redmond, with 28 clinics throughout Oregon.

Dr. Schuller, who is from Burbank, Wash., graduated from Case Western Reserve Universitys School of Dental Medicine in Cleveland. His wife, Sarah, grew up in Pasco, Wash., area, and her parents now live in Boise, Idaho.

He said they chose John Day as a pleasant, central area in-between both their families, in which to settle with their children: Finn, 6, Lucy, 5, Miles, 3, and Henry, 1.

Advantage Dental Clinics hours are 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Thursday, and 8 a.m.-1 p.m. on Fridays.
