Ruth A. Johns, 89, of Prairie City, died March 21, 2010, at Blue Mountain Nursing Home. A funeral service was held March 27, at Driskill Memorial Chapel with pastors Darrell Johnson and Marvin Hatfield officiating. Interment was at Fox Cemetery.

Mrs. Johns was born May 31, 1921, in Beech Creek, to Jason and Edith Hiatt. She attended school in Fox and Long Creek, graduating in 1938 from Long Creek School.
On Sept. 30, 1945, she married Carl Johns.
She enjoyed outdoor activities such as yard work, gardeneing, fishing, hiking and picking huckleberries. She also enjoyed cooking, sewing, reading, crafts, knitting and crocheting.

An active member of Grace Chapel and Taking Off Pounds Sensibly (TOPS), she also helped at the Senior Center.
Survivors include her husband, Carl Johns of Prairie City; son, Anthony Johns of Prairie City; daughters, Sherry Averett of Canby and Shiela Johnson of Medford; grandson, Brian Johns of Gresham; and six great-grandchildren.
